Why do men fish? It’s a question that many of us have asked at one time or another.
Why Men Fish tries to provide an answer to the mystery. It begins by tracing the evolution of the sport and looks at the current angling situation. As we progress, we discover that the reasons behind why we are drawn to waters and the fish they contain are at the same time both primitive and complex.
This is a very different book to the author’s previous title Carp Fishing Science published by Fishingbooksender. It’s a light-hearted exploration of the question, punctuated by moments of depth and personal reflection. What is seen by many as a form of escape, connection with the wild, reencounter with our finned cousins and reawakening of the hunter within is presented in a way that leaves little doubt as to our motivations. During this search for answers, the importance of competition between anglers and between the angler and the fish is explored. So too are the internal desires for personal development as anglers and recognition by peers which in turn reveal a number of other driving forces behind our passion.
This is not your typical angling book. Why Men Fish is a not only aimed at fishermen but also at the wife or partner dealing with the incurable and often incomprehensible affliction that is angling.
